Beauty Resolution for 2018: Commit to a Clear Skin

By Kezia Mariska - January 11, 2018

It's officially the new year! Can you guys believe it's 2018 already? Let's kick of the new year right and make 2018 great. Speaking of the new year, most of the people (or should I say everybody) set their own target, goals, resolutions, you name it, with the intention to change and improve their self from the past years. The motivation itself burns so bad inside and you are so excited to do all the things you have always wanted to try or things that you've missed last year. Whatever it is, I wish you a very good luck and by the end of the year you should see yourself have accomplished all the goals well.

Now on to my new year resolutions. I want to keep my resolutions down low this year, but I can't help myself to share it with all of you today. One of my new year resolution is to better at applying skin care by choosing the right products and make it a part of my morning and night routine. To be honest with you guys, I have a love and hate relationship with my skin, my face in particular. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those people who genetically blessed with clear and clean skin. I have been struggling to get rid of my acne (it's getting worse during the period) probably since my very first semester in uni. Ugh, how I hate those days. But enough talking about that, to encounter that problem, I started being more cautious in picking skin care products. From following those never-ending trend, now I become more sensible of how my skin actually works best with. Thank God, now I can say I have a pretty clear skin, in which I still have some redness, but I never experience those big and scary pimple anymore. Thanks to you, skincare routine!

Maybe now you are asking why am I still putting those beauty resolution when I already have a pretty clear skin? The answer is that I want to make them as a routine, I don't want to skip a day without putting a skincare. You are likely to slack off when your skin is looking clear, but trust me this is not a one and done game. Last year, I wasn't really into the skincare habit, if I don't feel like it, I just skip the skincare part. It was like washing my face and then go to bed or wake up and splash my face with water and head out the door. Poor thing! I have just realized the important of applying skincare and be mindful when doing so the past couple months, so I really want to continue the good habit this year. Check all the benefits of having a skincare routine on google and you'll thank me later.

For this post a.k.a my very first post in 2018, I put together all of my skincare products that work wonder on my face also featuring my new-in face masks that I've been so into lately. Please take a look!

First up, I have to tell you guys that I'm obsessed with Acnes treatment series. Long ago before I have discovered these babies, I like to alter and shift my skin care products to one another because I just didn't see the result that I want. I went to a dermatologist and it didn't help me either. I break out so bad and started to think maybe I should try the drug store product. I came across this product because it says that it's a treatment series for acne prone skin. Thank God, I finally found the one. I've been using their Oil Control Face Wash, Oil Control and Whitening Cream Moisturizer, Sealing Jell Gel, Spot Care and Tea Tree Oil Clay Mask since then. I should say my favorite out of all is the sealing jell gel. It helps me to overcome my pimples to dry fast by leaving the gel overnight. Heaven!

For taking my cleansing method to the higher level, I use this Clean Pop 4D Motion Cleanser and hoping for the next-level result, too. The feeling after using this baby is amazing because of the circular motion brush. It removes sebum, make-up residue and other impurities on skin and in pores more effective compared with just using our hands. Besides the circular motion, the vibration also  bringing a pleasant massage to our face.

EVOLUDERM - Demaq' doux yeus Eye Make-up Remover. This is definitely one of my holy grail product. I find that this product is so efficient in removing any make up and dirt from my face. I must say that it's actually speeds things up because it removes every last speck of make up with only one cotton pad in one usage. Yes, it may vary to each and everyone of you according to how heavy your make up is, but the great news is my sister agreed that this product works wonder to her too. Being a total product junkies, she tend to spend a lot of time putting stuff in her face, but after dropping the blue water on three cotton pads maximum, bang! the dirt is gone. Although it's an eye make-up remover, but it has always been very efficient to use it on my whole face.

Y'all know Laneige and can we take a moment and appreciate the gorgeous looking of the packaging? Love 'em so much! My love for them is eternal since I discovered these two top rated products including Laneige Essential Power Skin Refiner and Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. What I know for sure, I won’t be swapping this out for another product again anytime soon or maybe forever. First up, I have the Skin Refiner a.k.a toner (commonly called in the US). It helps me clarify the skin and because it is a water based toner, I use a cotton pad to apply it. Reasons why I love this product are the scent and the fact that it's really light so it doesn't have any burning feeling. It doesn't even irritate my eyes whenever I swipe the cotton pad with the product around my eye area. It helps to clean any dirts left on my skin, too. I also like to apply in on my neck area.

Good thing also comes from their Water Sleeping Mask. As you guys could tell by the name, you just have to apply it before bed and leave them overnight. I always wake up feeling like I've been to the spa in my sleep because my skin feels so soft, smooth and plumped. I use this once a week.

This Sensatia Botanicals Surf Naked Sunscreen was introduced to me by my sister about four months ago. We went to Bali and stopped by the Sensatia Botanicals store at Legian Street to pick up some new skincare products. At that time, I was really in need of sunscreen (duh, it's Bali) and without any hesitation I picked them out. The fact that it's made of 100% natural ingredients, fragrance free, and waterproof makes me so happy. It's truly a sunscreen with broadspectrum protection that protects  my skin against UVA/UVB radiation. Plus, it's Indonesia made!

As I promised earlier, these are my favorite face mask and face scrub at the moment. Introducing you from left to right, Simple Kind to Skin Deep Cleansing Face Mask, St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub (Travel Size), Acnes Tea Tree Oil Clay Mask, and Freeman Purifying Avocado + Oatmeal Clay Mask. Let me reveal my honest review about them one by one. Of course my favorite mask out of all is Acnes Tea Tree Oil Clay Mask. Why is that? First, I have been using this product since three years ago and it has definitely eliminated my acne fast without over drying. Second, tea tree oil is known as one of the best natural treatment for acne prone skin and also an oily skin controller. That statement is soooo true because I experienced it myself.

Next up we have Simple Kind to Skin Deep Cleansing Face Mask. I discovered this product when I was watching several Youtube videos saying that this product is heaven. And yes! I've been loving this product since day one! I find that this product is more of a soothing, gentle face mask to use (it's light). You may think that it doesn’t really do anything because of my saying, but it really does give your skin a deep clean. From my first experience trying the product, my face felt fresh, bright and softer than before.

Another hype goes to Freeman Purifying Avocado + Oatmeal Clay Mask. I was crazy enough thinking that I can purchase this product easily when I was in Singapore. It was wrong!!! I went to every Guardian store in Singapore (even at the SMRT station) and they said that they are running out of stock. This product better be good, right? The mission has finally come to and end because I found the only variant left at the store which was this Purifying Avocado + Oatmeal at Guardian Chinatown.  I use it twice a week to hydrate and give my skin a boost. It leaves my skin feeling smooth, refreshed and less redness around the pimples area.

Lastly, I have St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub. I love this bad boy, too like the rest of others mentioned above. I have sensitive skin and it doesn't irritate my skin at all and it doesn't dry out my skin, it actually helps moisturize it a bit. I just love the feeling it leaves on skin after using! I use it once a week.

To have a clear skin you also have to implement a healthy lifestyle by eating clean and having enough sleep (6-8 hours a day and try to sleep and wake up early). Avoid food that cause inflammation such as dairy products, sugar, artificial sweeteners, alcohol, processed meats, etc. Instead, opt for food that rich in antioxidant like fruits, nuts, veggies including leafy greens and others. Don't forget to drink more water, too fellas! As I gathered some of information online, lack of sleep raises levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which increasing the inflammation, one of the key breakout triggers. Lack of sleep also results in less blood flow and oxygen getting to the skin cells that can cause dull-looking skin.

To wrap up the post, one thing I really want to encourage you guys is to always take care of yourself no matter how busy you are. Show yourself an unlimited love because it allows you to feel more comfortable and relaxed allowing feelings of happiness due to a lack or stress.

    2. There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both boys and girls feel the impact of just a moment’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
