First Time Experiencing Music Festival

By Kezia Mariska - August 16, 2017

After a long wait (probably because of the hesitation to buy the ticket from the very first place), I finally got a chance to attend We The Fest 2017 or WTF for short. This happened to be the first music festival I have ever been to. To be really honest, the crazy awesome line-up was the main trigger why I bought the ticket. Couldn't forget to mention, Dua Lipa, G-Eazy, Jonas Blue, Big Sean, Lany, etc were rocking the stage.

Quick info, We The Fest is an annual summer festival of music, arts, fashion, and food held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The very first edition was held on 2014 and still going stronger and bigger every single year. The event features many genres of music, including pop, rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic dance music (EDM). Not only was about the music, but it was also about the art. I mean, they are succeed building a summer vibe on the venue, the colorful set up and decorations were the main aspects to the over all feel of the festival. It's promoted by the one and only Ismaya Live. This dope music festival was also sponsored by many big names like H&M, Vivo, Go-Jek, Prost-Beer, Kit Kat, Joox, etc. How awesome!

The one thing I also love from WTF is that everyone dressed up in a eccentric way to enhance the summer vibe. Some of them also putting a lot of effort with their make-up #coachellainspired. In this matter, WTF is not just an ordinary music festival but sort of like a street style fashion show hahaha... But I love it! A great place to express someone's fashion taste for the summer.

I think this year's WTF was sort of special because they gratified the festival-goers with lots of entertainment 3 days in a row (Friday till Sunday)! Besides music enjoyment, they provided lots of food, creative market, braid and reflexology station, cozy made-up cinema (it's called WTF Cinema Club) and other exciting spots.

One of my favorite performances was Dua Lipa! The crowd was insanely full waiting for the sexy-deep-raspy singer to come out to the stage. And it was exactly what I expected to be. The crowd were screaming hard, taking a lot of videos, singing along, and dancing freely with Dua's hit songs. I was so happy when she started to sing New Rules (one of my favorite track from her self-titled album).

I think everyone should go to a music festival or concert at least once in their lifetime. The amount of music that you get introduced to is crazy and it is so much better than listening it on your Spotify. You actually get to listen it live! You can embrace the feeling of hearing it live on your own time and also get to experience many new artists. I love the sensation (omg I'm being so over dramatic) of enjoying the music that everyone else around me was listening to.

Overall, this experience was like no other. Plus, I want thank my music geek sister, Karen for encouraging me to experience this music festival, because without her I wouldn't have never gone. Now honestly I can't wait for the next one. The money save-up alert is on everybody! So word of advice from me who are exactly not a fan of huge crowd and loud music, it's not what you think it is. The experience is indeed a one of a kind or should we call it a life experience?

See you in the next one,
